Wall Displays

I've had several clients ask me for recommendations on arranging their photographs recently, so I am now offering a tool to help you visualize your prints displayed on the walls of your home. When you book a session, I will include a few wall display ideas in your proofing gallery. This will simply give you ideas for grouping and arranging your images. sisters . . .

I had the privilege of photographing these sisters yesterday. There's something really special about sisters. I have one myself, and I love her to pieces. There are things about me that only she understands . . . simply because she was there, and we went through life together. We shared a room, and I have fond memories of late night giggles and cuddling :). She always amazes me, and I am more proud of her than she knows.

These two girls were precious. The younger one, "A," wasn't really up for sitting and having her picture made (what 14 month old is?!), so I chased her around and got some good ones :). "B," on the other hand, was a perfect little poser! We had to tickle her and make her laugh to get some natural shots. She's my new little friend . . . we had fun exploring together!

sweet baby boy

Remember this cutie from a few posts ago?

Well, she's now a proud big sister! I snapped some photos of her baby brother this week, and here are a few of my favorites. Isn't he sweet?! . . .

He was SO good during the entire session, and he was ready for a nice, long nap by the time we were done!

Now Offering . . .

. . . Fine Art Gallery Wrap Canvas Prints! (Wow, that's a mouthful!) I just purchased one of these for myself, and tears actually welled up in my eyes when I opened the package. I knew it was coming and knew exactly what to expect. It just exceeded my expectations and is now PROUDLY displayed in our home.

These are my boys, and I have loved this photograph since I captured it almost two years ago on our annual family beach trip. They were three and five then, and they would still actually hold hands! I had a print of this image framed and hanging in our home, but I wanted a more durable, beautiful way to display it.

Let me explain how a gallery wrap canvas works. The image is printed [onto canvas] larger than the final size and wrapped around a thick wooden stretcher frame. Framing paper covers the back, and metal hangers and bumpers are applied to the corners making it completely ready to hang. It is sprayed with special laminate designed for canvas prints, protecting it from scuffs, scratches and UV rays.

The texture of the canvas is elegant and timeless, and I truly believe this is an exquisite way to display your favorite images in a classic, yet modern, way. It is an investment I'm very pleased to have made. I can't wait to purchase another one! We're moving into a new home at the end of this month, and I'm already trying to decide on the perfect place to hang this one.

One thing to keep in mind when ordering your prints is the print size. Many people think in terms of 5X7s and 8X10s. These are great sizes for certain places. However, if you wish to display an image or a group of images on the wall, I would highly recommend that you consider larger prints. The image above is a 16X24, and it looks great hanging alone on a smaller wall space. If there is an image from your session that especially tugs at your heart, think about a larger print or one of these beautiful canvases.

Just so you know, I also offer traditional canvas prints that are not wrapped. These are printed in much the same way. However, the image covers only the front of the canvas. The canvas is stapled to the sides of the stretcher bar and therefore must be framed. If you love custom framing or feel that a more traditional look suits your home better, this would be a great choice for you. little princess

I had the opportunity to photograph this cutie Saturday. I first photographed her when she was six weeks old, and now she's ONE! She lives in Memphis, so I don't get to see her very often. I was amazed at how much she had changed since I saw her last (when I traveled to Memphis to photograph her baptism in September). She's such a sweet little girl, and she was a trooper during the session. This is a sneak peek for her parents. It was really good to see you all again! I'll have the full gallery ready for you very soon!

big sister

This cutie is now a big sister! She came to play with me while her mommy was on bed rest, and I snapped a few photos. She has pretty eyes, and I can't wait to take some pictures of her new baby brother! Meet Miss "K" . . .

She got serious every time I put the camera up to my face! I love this look, though! I was playing around with my 50mm lens, and I like the clarity of these. More of baby brother to come soon!

love is in the air . . .

I'll go ahead and apologize for the number of photos I'm including in this post! I had such a hard time choosing! Meet Mike & Tabitha. They are very good friends of ours, and they're getting married in May . . . yea! We headed out to Radnor Lake, where Mike proposed, for an engagement session last Saturday. It was a beautiful day, and they are such a beautiful couple. Here, I'll let you see for yourself . . .

lavender

I went to Target today and found this . . .

. . . on clearance!!! It was the display, and I snatched it up! It's made to hang, but I haven't hung it yet. Here's a close-up of it sitting in my office.

I'm usually not into purple that much (despite the fact that I had an imaginary friend when I was little named "Purple Girl"). The light is a pretty lavender shade, though, and I had this fresh flower in my kitchen. It's lavender, too.

Maybe I like lavender more than I realized. I sure had fun with it today!

A good friend of mine recently asked me to send some framed prints to put on display in a coffeehouse she's affiliated with. I'm thinking of sending these. What do you think?

backyard "baby"

This is my Cole. He would furrow his eyebrows and crinkle up his nose at me calling him my baby . . . but he is. He had a birthday last month, and I'm still in disbelief that my youngest child is five! Cole is funny and sweet, and he has the best expressions. He always has. I love him to the moon and back, and he tells me he loves me as much as 100 Star Wars movies (and let me tell you, that's an awful lot). I feel special! I posted images of Riley a while back, so I thought I'd share a few of Cole this time around. These were taken yesterday in our backyard. They were playing war (or something???), and they were calling our "adopted" neighborhood cat the "battle tiger!" What will they come up with next?! Always an adventure to be found at the Dunlap house!

birthday party fun

Here are a few favorites from the birthday party I shot last weekend. It was a High School Musical party and a swim party, too (obviously at an INDOOR pool)! Everyone had a good time, and I was honored to celebrate with the birthday girl and document the day so her parents could focus on her and the guests. I couldn't decide whether to post the color or B&W version of the first one, so I included both! She was a doll!
